According to a recent study, 1,550 deaths, 71,000 injuries, and $12.5 billion in monetary losses each year are a result of Drowsy Driving. In fact, according to www.drowsydriving.org 1 out of 10 drivers have fallen asleep at the wheel in the past year and 1 out of every 6 deadly traffic accidents is a result of drowsy driving. We get it. Always catching 7-9 hours of sleep is easier said than done. Know if you are At Risk for Fatigue driving by considering the following symptoms
* Difficulty focusing, frequent blinking, or heavy eyelids
* Daydreaming; wandering/disconnected thoughts
* Trouble remembering the last few miles driven; missing exits or traffic signs
* Yawning repeatedly or rubbing your eyes
* Trouble keeping your head up
* Drifting from your lane, tailgating, or hitting a shoulder rumble strip
* Feeling restless and irritable
According to a recent poll nearly 30% of Americans have admitted they function on less than 6 hours of sleep at night. Being awake for 18 hours is equal to a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08%, which is legally drunk and leaves you at equal risk for a crash.
